Hand-made carpet is a unique product which is symbol of genuine Iranian culture and art. As Iranians care about the beauties and elegance of carpets, they decided to apply the appearance features of hand-made carpets to machine-made carpets. The machine-made carpet manufacturers were looking for a product that is as well as hand-made carpets, but with a lower price and shorter production time. Thus, they increased the reeds and density of the carpet. Reed and density depends on the number of knots in the carpet. The higher the numbers of knots, the higher the reed and density of the carpet, and the carpet becomes elegant woven and looks like the hand-made carpet.
Characteristics of hand-look carpets
Carpets have two important characteristics: reeds and density, each of which has a special and important concept in the carpet. Reeds, which determines the elegance and type of weaving (superfine woven or gross woven) of a carpet, is the knots of the carpet per unit length in the transverse direction. On the other hand, density of a carpet, which determines the strength and compactness of the carpet, means the knots of the carpet per unit length in the longitudinal direction. Thus, the more density of the carpet, the more compact it is, and instead, the more the reeds, the more the designs and patterns of the carpet and the more elegance woven it is. The hand-look carpets are those of 700 reeds and more, and they are very similar in appearance to hand-made carpets due to elegant weaving and high density.
In hand-made carpets, the pile yarn is knotted tightly around the warp, and if you look behind the carpet, you can see the pile. In machine-made hand-look carpets, if you look behind the carpet, the yarns look like hand-made carpets as the letter U. If you look at the back of hand-look carpets, the similarity of the weaving to hand-made carpets is quite obvious.
Using modern equipment and high quality raw materials, Ekbatan Carpet Company (A brand as valuable as machine-made carpet) produces various types of carpet according to national and international standards, all of which are hand-look and have a wide variety of design and pattern.
